TEHRAN, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that nothing can harm relations between Tehran and
New Delhi, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran's approach to relations
with India is a long-term one," Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with
visiting Indian National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan.
"There is no limit for promoting Tehran-New Delhi
ties on bilateral, regional and global levels," he said.
Iran considers implementation of the "Peace Pipeline"
project as an effective and helpful step which should be finalized and made
operational as soon as possible, he said, referring to the Iran-Pakistan-India
cooperation on gas transfer.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran insists the gas
pipeline be laid among the three countries as this will be to the benefit of
whole regional nations."
Ahmadinejad also said that Iran and India can have
helpful and constructive cooperation in fighting drugs and terrorism,
maintaining regional security.
Narayanan also urged speeding up efforts to implement
the IPI project plan to serve the interests of regional
nations.
