BUDAPEST, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian musicians performed non-stop for
216 hours at a summer resort on Lake Balaton to set a Guinness World Record for
the longest concert, Hungarian News Agency MTI reported Monday.
The concert was part of the Balatonfured Guitar Festival.
The attempt to set the new world record started on June 21. More than 1,000
musicians of all ages in 350 groups lined up to take the stage by turns for days
and nights. The youngest among them was just seven years old.
Besides classical guitarists, jazz, Latin, flamenco and rock musicians also
performed at the concert.
The new record was set at 3 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) on Monday.
The last time Hungarians set a world record for the longest concert was on
July 1 last year, with a performance lasting 192 hours at the same venue. It was
later beaten by Canadian musicians with a 200-hour performance.
