ANKARA, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkish security forces killed one rebel of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in a clash in eastern Turkey, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Saturday.

A security forces officer was also wounded during the clash in Kigi town of Bingol province, the report said.

Meanwhile, the report added that a citizen was injured when a mine planted by the PKK exploded in Semdinli town of southeastern province of Hakkari on Friday.

In another operation, two Turkish soldiers were slightly injured late on Friday when PKK militants opened fire on a military station in Eruh town of southeastern province of Siirt, said the report.

The Turkish military has periodically bombed and shelled suspected PKK positions in Turkish-Iraqi border area during the past a few months. In February, it launched an eight-day ground incursion into Iraq.

The PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took up arms in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in the southeast Turkey. More than 30,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
