BEIJING, June 27 (Xinhua) -- A group of Chinese military experts attended a
workshop at the University of National Defense on Thursday to study a series of
instructions on fostering officers for commanding joint operations by Hu Jintao,
chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC).
The participants shared views on the experience of educating commanders for
joint operations of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Chinese
People's Armed Police. They also worked out future plans for the purpose.
Xu Caihou, CMC vice chairman, addressed the workshop and called for
seriously studying and implementing Hu's instructions and making greater efforts
in fostering commanding talents for joint operations, so as to prepare a large
number of joint operation commanders for the fulfillment of the army's historic
mission.
Joint operation commanders should be trained in various ways, by
integrating academic education with in-service training, regular training with
special training, training of individuals and training of the whole group of
leading officers, according to Xu.
In recent years, the Chinese armed forces have attached great importance to
the training of joint operations between different military services such as the
army, navy and air force, as well as other kinds of military service.
