Tibet re-opens to foreign journalists 


    BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Foreign journalists in China are allowed to apply for entering Tibet, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao here Thursday.

    "Since Tibet had re-opened to foreign tourists, foreign journalists in China could also apply with local authorities to go there in line with previous procedure," Liu told a press conference. Full story

China to send rest of engineering team to Darfur in July


    BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- China will dispatch the remaining members of a team of peacekeeping engineers to Darfur next month, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a regular press conference here on Thursday.

    At the request of the United Nations and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, China decided to participate further in a hybrid force of the United Nations and the African Union, Liu said. Full story

China to announce "important news" on Korean nuclear issue

    BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- China's Foreign Ministry has announced it is to hold a press conference at 5 p.m. on Thursday to release "important news" related to the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.

FM of Cyprus to visit China

    BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Markos Kyprianou will visit China from June 29 to July 1 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.
