BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- China will enhance cooperation with the trade
unions in the Caribbean to promote the harmonious development of relations with
those countries, Wang Zhaoguo, chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade
Unions (ACFTU), said here Wednesday.
Wang made the remarks in his meeting with Caribbean trade union leaders at
a symposium for Chinese and Caribbean trade union leaders.
Wang said the symposium would not only help step up friendly relations
between Chinese and Caribbean trade unions and but also push forward the
international trade union movement.
Wang, who is also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National
People's Congress, China's top legislature, voiced his hope that the ACFTU could
further cooperation with the Caribbean trade unions to increase mutual
understanding and safeguard the legitimate interests of their workers.
Errol Snijders, chairman of Surinam's General Alliance of Labor Unions, the
trade union federation in Surinam, expressed his appreciation of the ACFTU's
active role played in China's robust economic development process.
Snijders said the Caribbean trade union leaders hope to learn from the
ACFTU's valuable experience and expand their friendly cooperation with the
Chinese trade union.
