LONDON, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Some 170,000 Britons who drink water provided by Anglian Water are warned on Wednesday to boil supplies before drinking after traces of a stomach bug were found in testing.

Areas affected include Northampton and Daventry in central England, after traces of stomach bug cryptosporidium were found in testing, Sky news reported.

The company said tap water is safe for washing, bathing and toilet flushing. People with special needs will be offered bottled water.

Anglian Water is investigating routine samples which have shown evidence of cryptosporidium in the water supply.
