HK schools closed, transportation services disrupted for severe tropical storm Fengshen

    HONG KONG, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Severe Tropical Storm Fengshen forced closure of schools and hospitals, and disrupted transportation services in Hong Kong Wednesday morning.

    The Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 Southwest Gale or Storm Signal Wednesday morning. Red Rainstorm warning was issued at 6 a.m. here and replaced by Yellow Rainstorm warning at 10 a.m. Northern New Territories Flooding Warning was issued at 6:35 a.m. Landslip warning was issued at 8:10 a.m. No major incidents have been reported so far.  Full story

Tropical storm Fengshen lands in southeast China

    GUANGZHOU, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Tropical storm Fengshen hit the southeast coast of China early on Wednesday, bringing about heavy rains and strong winds.

    The storm made the landfall in the coastal area of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, at 5:30 a.m. with winds of up to 83 kilometers per hour, according to the provincial meteorological station.  Full story
