China puts forward four-point proposal for furthering ties with Greece

    BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao put forward a four-point proposal to further develop Sino-Greek ties in his meeting with Greek President Karolos Papoulias here on Monday.

    Pointing to the smooth development of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 36 years ago, Hu said the Sino-Greek relationship was faced with a good opportunity for further development. China would work with Greece to expand cooperation mainly in four aspects.  Full story

Chinese, Greek presidents watch Olympic cultural festival performance

    BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and Greek President Karolos Papoulias on Monday night watched a performance of the opening ceremony of the 6th "Beijing 2008" Olympic Cultural Festival which presented some 20 programs by 400 Chinese and Greek artists.

    Among the 150 Greek artists, Ino Menegaki, a priestess at the 2008 Beijing Olympic flame-lighting ceremony in Athens, narrated the Invocation to God Apollo, while noted Chinese singer Song Zuying and dancer Huang Doudou gave their wonderful performances. Full story
