China, U.S. agree to start talks on bilateral investment pact

    WASHINGTON, June 18 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States agreed to start negotiations on a bilateral investment protection accord, senior officials from both countries said here Wednesday.

Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and U.S. Secretary of Treasury Henry Paulson made the announcement at a joint press conference here in the Department of Treasury after the fourth round of Sino-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue, or SED. Full story

    WASHINGTON, June 18 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States signed a 10-year energy and environment cooperation framework here Wednesday after the two nations concluded their fourth round of Strategic Economic Dialogue, or SED.

Speaking to reporters before the signing ceremony at the U.S. Treasury Department, visiting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said the deal was "a major achievement of the meeting," which will influence future bilateral economic cooperation and contribute to the sustainable development of the world.     ANNAPOLIS, United States, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The sovereign wealth fund (SWF) is very beneficial to the development of global investment and the economy, Chinese Finance Minister Xie Xuren said on Tuesday.

    "The sovereign wealth fund is a very important part of the cycle of savings reinvestment. China, U.S. list electricity, transportation as focus of energy co-op

    ANNAPOLIS, United States, June 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States have identified power generation, transportation and three other areas as priorities under a 10-year framework of energy and environment protection cooperation, a Chinese official said Tuesday.

China plans to send food and product inspectors to U.S.

    ANNAPOLIS, United States, June 17 (Xinhua) -- China plans to send food safety and product quality inspectors to the United States as a reciprocal move to a similar U.S. proposal, a senior Chinese official said here Tuesday.

    Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the fourth round of the China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue, or SED, Li Changjiang, minister of China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), said the proposal to send U.S. food safety and product quality inspectors to China was first raised by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt at the 3rd SED last December. Full story

Interview: Strategic Economic Dialogue plays constructive role in U.S.-Sino relations
