WASHINGTON, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier
Wang Qishan arrived here Monday afternoon to attend the upcoming fourth round of
China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue, or SED.
The SED will be held from June 17 to 18 at U.S. Naval
Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, about 30-minute drive from Washington.
The meeting will be co-chaired by Wang as special
representative of Chinese President Hu Jintao, and U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry
Paulson, as special representative of U.S. President George W. Bush.
Wang's entourage includes ministers and other senior
officials from related departments of China's State Council.
Jointly launched by President Hu and President Bush
in September, 2006, the dialogue is held twice a year, alternating between the
two countries.
The previous meeting was held in December 2007 in Beijing, China.
U.S., Chinese companies sign 71 contracts worth $13.6 bln

Chinese vice-premier: China-U.S. energy cooperation would produce win-win results
C WASHINGTON, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan has called for stronger cooperation between China and the United States in energy, the environment and other related areas, saying that bilateral cooperation in these areas would lead to win-win results.
"The Chinese government gives high priority to energy and resources conservation and the protection of the environment. Interview: Strategic Economic Dialogue plays constructive role in U.S.-Sino relations
WASHINGTON, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The high-level Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) between the United States and China has played "a constructive role" in U.S.-China relations which are "important to world peace and prosperity," James A. Dorn, vice president for academic affairs of the Cato Institute said recently.
The fourth round of SED, first launched in December 2006, will be held on June 17-18 in the United States.Full story
