ANKARA, June 15 (Xinhua) -- A mine blast hit a freight train in eastern Turkey, injuring three, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Sunday.
The mine was planted by the outlawed Kurdish Worker's Party (PKK) on the rails between Egirmec and Eralan villages in Turkey's eastern province of Mus, said the report.
Three railway workers were injured and five wagons were damaged at the blast which occurred on Saturday, the report quoted Governor of Mus Erdogan Bektas as saying, adding that the attack particularly targeted the wagon which carried railway workers.
"The rails where the blast took place will be closed to transportation for a couple of days," Bektas said.
Further investigations are underway, the report added.
The PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took up arms against Turkey in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in the southeast. More than 30,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
