ANKARA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers'
Party (PKK) launched a rocket attack against a police lodging in southeastern
Turkey, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Saturday.
A total of five people were wounded during the attack in Yuksekova town of
Hakkari province in the far southeast corner of Turkey late Friday, Governor of
Hakkari Ayhan Nasuhbeyoglu was quoted as saying.
The wounded were taken to hospital for medical treatment, Nasuhbeyoglu
said.
Meanwhile, one PKK member, who refused to lay down arms, was killed during
an operation against the PKK in a rural area near Yayladere town of eastern
Bingol province on Saturday, Anatolia reported.
The report said operations are underway to catch four other wounded PKK
militants.
The PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took
up arms against Turkey in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in
the southeast. More than 30,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade
conflict.
