ANKARA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's top commanders attended on Tuesday a military exercise performed in Aegean province of Izmir in western Turkey, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
The Efes 2008 military exercise was attended by Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit, Land Forces Commander Gen. Ilker Basbug, Naval Forces Commander Adm. Metin Atac, Air Forces Commander Gen. Aydogan Babaoglu, Gendarmerie General Commander Gen.Isik Kosaner and Aegean Army Commander Gen. Necdet Ozel, according to the report.
F-16, F-4 and Phantom fighter jets, as well as ships, vessels, tanks and cannons were involved, and nearly 10,000 soldiers used live ammunition at the exercise which was closed to national and international observers this year, said the report.
