MOSCOW, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Russia and the United States have coordinated their stances on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Borodavkin said Friday after talks with top U.S. nuclear envoy Christopher Hill.

"We coordinated positions and confirmed that a constructive atmosphere and the spirit of cooperation that exist between the U.S. and Russia within the framework of talks on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue will be maintained in the future," Borodavkin was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying.

"We exchanged opinions on what we have managed to achieve over the past few years in the solution of the problem, and summed up certain positive results," he said.

The two sides discussed "how we shall be progressing at talks, and thought about creating working groups and organizing other events," he said, adding that no timetable for resuming the six-party talks had been fixed yet.

"It is too early to talk about a specific timetable for events," he said.

Delegations from South Korea and the U.S. also met in Moscow Thursday and Friday to discuss the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue ahead of the six-party talks tentatively scheduled for mid-June.

Earlier, top U.S. negotiator Hill held talks with Kim Kye-gwan, his counterpart from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), in Beijing Wednesday to seek an agreement on the time-frame for completing the nuclear talks.

The six-party talks, involving the DPRK, the U.S., China, South Korea, Japan and Russia, have been held periodically since August 2003.
