Jordan to sign nuclear cooperation agreement with France

    AMMAN, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and France plan to sign a cooperation agreement on peaceful uses of nuclear energy on Friday, official news agency Petra reported Thursday.

    The agreement, to be signed by Jordanian Foreign Minister Salaheddin Al Bashir and his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner, will also include training of Jordanians on nuclear safety measures and financial and administrative regulations on the cooperation, it said.

    President of Jordan Nuclear Commission Khaled Touqan said under the agreement, nuclear plant will generate electricity as well as extraction and processing of uranium. ¡¡
