HONG KONG, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong Transport Department Thursday carried out a multi-agency exercise to test co-ordination and communication with the major stakeholders on emergency situations associated with the upcoming Olympic Equestrian and Paralympic Equestrian Events in August and September this year.
Participants included public transport operators and other governmental departments or bureaus.
A spokesman for the Transport Department said that the objective of the exercise was to test the responses of the department and other key agencies to a number of traffic and transport scenarios, which may have impact on the smooth conduct of the Equestrian and Paralympic Events.
"Key stakeholders, including the Equestrian Company, Home Affairs Bureau, Security Bureau, Police and major public transport and transport infrastructure operators such as the Mass Transit Railway Corporation Limited, franchised bus companies, as well as operators for Lion Rock Tunnel, Tate's Cairn Tunnel, Shing Mun Tunnel and Tsing Sha Control Area participated in the exercise which was completed smoothly," he said.
Hong Kong is one of the co-host cities to stage the Equestrian Events of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
