Chinese premier, Putin hold phone discussions on quake relief, Medvedev's visit

    BEIJING, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin Tuesday, discussed China's earthquake relief process and the recent successful tour to China by new Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

    Putin once again expressed his sincere sympathies and condolences to the Chinese people in view of the devastating earthquake, pledging that Russia will do its best to provide help.

    Referring to the prompt and strong support from Russia in relief efforts in the quake-hit area, Wen expressed sincere thanks to Putin on behalf of the Chinese government and people.

    Medvedev's recent visit to China has injected fresh momentum into the Sino-Russian partnership of strategic cooperation, Wen said.

    The Chinese premier also expressed hope for close cooperation with Putin to push forward pragmatic cooperation between the two nations in every field.
