Special report: Strong Earthquake Jolts SW China

     BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Following are the latest facts and figures about the massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake that rocked southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12:

    -- The death toll from the quake rose to 62,664 nationwide as of Sunday noon, while 358,816 people were injured and 23,775 people were missing.

    -- Rescuers saved and evacuated 638,305 people to safe places, including 6,537 survivors buried under the rubble, as of Saturday midnight.

    -- Hospitals took in a total of 82,907 injured people, 51,826 of whom recovered and left and 3,515 died in hospital as of Sunday noon.

    -- Domestic and foreign donations had reached 29.06 billion yuan (4.21 billion U.S. dollars), up 2.96 billion yuan overnight. And 7.52 billion yuan had been forwarded to the earthquake-affected areas.

    -- A total of 463,140 tents, one of the most urgently needed relief supplies, had been delivered to quake regions.

    -- A total of 2,419,347 quilts and 3,444,526 garments had been sent to these regions.

    -- The government disaster relief fund reached 15.14 billion yuan (2.2 billion U.S. dollars) as of 2 p.m. Sunday. The fund included 11.1 billion yuan from the central budget and 4.05 billion yuan from local budgets.

    -- Between Saturday noon and Sunday noon, no aftershocks measuring above 4 on the Richter scale took place but an aftershock measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale jolted Qingchuan county in southwest China's Sichuan Province at 4:24 p.m. Sunday.
