President Visits China
BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev concluded a two-day state visit to China and departed on Saturday
evening.
During the visit, Chinese President Hu Jintao held
talks with Medvedev, in which the two heads of state spoke highly of the
establishment and development of the Sino-Russian strategic partnership of
coordination and vowed to jointly make further efforts to push forward this
partnership.
China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, top political
advisor Jia Qinglin and Vice President Xi Jinping also met with Medvedev.
After the talks, Hu and Medvedev signed a joint
statement on major international issues and attended the signing ceremony for
several documents on bilateral cooperation in such fields as energy, aviation,
forestry and tourism.
The two countries also issued a joint communique on
the talks of the two heads of state.
Medvedev also laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tian'anmen Square and gave a speech at Peking University.

On behalf of the Russian government, Medvedev also
invited some primary and middle-school students from the quake-hit areas to
recover in Russia.
As a guest of Hu, Medvedev started his first China
visit on Friday afternoon.
He was the first head of state to pay a state visit
to China since the devastating earthquake hit southwest China's Sichuan Province
on May 12.
The trip was also Medvedev's first visit outside the
Commonwealth of Independent States since he was sworn in on May 7.

BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- International
security is comprehensive and inalienable, and some countries' security cannot
be guaranteed at the cost of some others', including expanding military and
political allies, said a Sino-Russian joint statement.
The Sino-Russian joint statement on major international
issues, signed here on Friday after talks between Chinese President Hu Jintao
and visiting Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, stressed the necessity to
respect and consider the interests and concerns of relevant countries. Full story
Russia's new president embarks on
first China tour
BEIJING, May 23
(Xinhua) -- Russia's new president, Dmitry Medvedev, arrived in Beijing on
Friday, starting a two-day state visit to China as a guest of Chinese President
Hu Jintao.
Medvedev will hold talks with Chinese President Hu. He
will also meet top legislator Wu Bangguo, top political advisor Jia Qinglin and
