    BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The Red Cross Society of China on Sunday distributed seven million yuan (about one million U.S. dollars) worth of emergency goods to quake-stricken areas in Sichuan Province, southwest China.

    The goods include milk, instant noodle, drinking water, quilts, flash lights, rain coats, clothes and tents.

    The society announced it had received 1.83 billion yuan of relief supplies as of midday on Saturday from home and abroad, and had delivered 400 million yuan in cash and goods to affected areas.

    On May 12, an earthquake measuring 7.8 degree on the Richter scale jolted Wenchuan County, Sichuan, and affected a large part of the country. The death toll from the quake had risen to 28,881 nationwide as of 2 p.m. Saturday, while 198,347 people were injured.
