BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Triumph International Ltd., famous underwear maker, unveiled its environmentally friendly "Solar Power Bra" Wednesday in Tokyo.

The bra, designed to raise awareness of global warming and the need to conserve energy, features a solar panel worn around the stomach.

The solar panel is able to produce electricity from sunlight and room lighting that can generate enough power to charge a cell phone or an iPod.

The energy powers an electrical bulletin board on top of the bra for displays of messages such as "SAVE THE EARTH."

"It is very comfortable and I can really feel involved in eco-friendly efforts as well," model Yuko Ishida said.

According to the company, the bra is intended not for sale but for use in events at department stores and other places.

A spokeswoman for the bra's maker said she hopes to send a message that lingerie can save the planet. Eco-friendly products are gaining popularity in Japan, and the solar energy bra is just the latest installment in the company's line of sustainable undies.

Other "green" concept bras include one with a reusable shopping bag folded conveniently inside, and a "my chopsticks" bra that holds a handy set of reusable, collapsible chopsticks that can be tucked in either side.
