ALGIERS, May 13 (Xinhua) -- China's new ambassador to Algeria Liu Yuhe presented credentials to President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday morning.

Liu conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's regards to Bouteflika and congratulated the Algerian president on his country's significant achievements in economic and social construction and national reconciliation.

Liu said China and Algeria has deep-rooted and lasting friendship, and bilateral cooperation in the past 50 years since both countries established diplomatic ties has been fruitful and greatly benefited the two peoples.

Both countries have always been mutually supportive in international and regional affairs and China thanks Algeria's adoption of the one-China policy and its support to China on the Taiwan question and Tibet-related issues.

China is willing to work with Algeria to continuously deepen their strategic partnership, he said.

Bouteflika highly appreciated the traditional Algeria-China friendship and bilateral cooperation achievements in all fields, and thanked China for its support and assistance to Algeria's national independence and construction cause.

He said Algeria has always stuck to the one-China policy and firmly supports China to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, believing issues regarding Taiwan and Tibet are purely China's domestic affairs and some countries were only making futile efforts to pressure China on them.

Bouteflika also expressed his support for the Beijing Olympic Games and believed China is capable of overcoming all sorts of difficulties and holding successful high-level Olympic games.
