Portuguese athletes to learn Chinese language ahead of Beijing Olympics

    LISBON, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) on Tuesday signed an agreement with University of Lisbon, which will give lessons of Chinese language and culture to the Olympics-bound Portuguese athletes.

    Portuguese athletes will attend the university's Confucius Institute, which specializes in teaching the Chinese language and Chinese culture.

    Director of COP Vicente Moura and principal of the university Antonio Sampaio da Novoa signed the agreement at the COP's headquarters.
