BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Dottie Rambo, a Gospel
music legend, died in an accident, when the bus she was in ran off the highway
and struck an embankment in Missouri.
Rambo, 74, was on her way early Sunday morning to a
Mother's Day performance in Texas, according to her website Monday.
Seven other people on the bus were injured, which
occurred about two miles east of Mount Vernon on Interstate 44, the Missouri
Highway Patrol said. They were sent to hospital in Springfield with moderate to
severe injuries.
It was not clear whether the accident was
weather-related. Severe storms and tornadoes hit the region on Saturday, killing
14 people.
As a famous singer and songwriter, Rambo was inducted
into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame last year and the Kentucky Music
Hall of Fame in 2006.
Rambo has published more than 2,500 songs, including
gospel classics such as "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need" and the 1982
Gospel Music Association Song of the Year, "We Shall Behold Him."
