HANOI, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam always hopes for more effective and
practical cooperation with the World Bank (WB), especially in infrastructure
construction and human resource training, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen
Tan Dung.
Dung made the remarks here on Wednesday while meeting with WB Country
Director Ajay Chhiber to mark the end of his term of office in the Southeast
Asian country, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Thursday.
Dung said he hoped WB would continue giving preferential loans to Vietnam
for development, as well as consultancy on macroeconomic policy. He proposed the
two sides coordinate to organize a donors' meeting in June and carry out
assistance programs for the 2009-2010 fiscal year and infrastructure investment
projects.
For his part, Ajay Chhiber said he would continue to help Vietnam and make
preparations for the donors' meeting, and support Vietnam in infrastructure
investment and policy consultancy, adding that the adjustment of the growth rate
by the Vietnamese government was necessary in the context of the world economy.
