Special report: 2008 Olympic Games

MT. QOMOLANGMA BASE CAMP, Tibet, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Cering Wangmo, the youngest of the Beijing Olympic flame carriers on Mt. Qomolangma, is about to make history, while his kid brother Daintar is recording with handycam.

Wangmo, 22, is one of the 12-member Attack Team who started the final assault at the 8844-meter peak at 3:00 am (1900 GMT) on Thursday and are expected to reach the summit at 9:00.

The 21-year-old Daintar is working for China Central Television, which is live broadcasting the Olympic flame's journey to the world's highest peak.

"Both my brother and I are very proud of being part of the Olympic Games," Wangmao said in an earlier interview.

Wangmo became the youngest Chinese female to have scaled Mt. Qomolangma in 2006.
