U.S.-led Coalition kills several militants in E Afghanistan

    KABUL, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Several militants have been killed during an anti-militancy operation of the U.S.-led Coalition forces in eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar, said a Coalition statement issued here Tuesday.

    The Coalition forces Monday searched several compounds in the Achin district of Nangarhar for a Taliban militant suspected of aiding foreign fighters, and conducting home-made explosives and weapons facilitation operations, it said.

    The U.S.-led military said "several armed militants" were killed during the operation and during a follow up search the Coalition forces identified the targeted militant and detained him.

    An around 20,000 multi-national forces under the flag of the U.S.-led Coalition forces are deployed in Afghanistan, mostly in the restive eastern regions, fighting militants.
