ANKARA, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Turkish security forces captured four rebels of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement on Sunday.

Four PKK rebels were captured in southeastern province of Hakkari on Friday, said the statement, adding that the security forces also found nine anti-tank weapons and ammunition during a search mission in southeastern Sirnak Province.

On Saturday, a statement of the General Staff said more than 150 PKK rebels were killed in a series of air raids conducted by Turkish army on Thursday and Friday.

The Turkish military has periodically bombed and shelled suspected PKK positions in northern Iraq during the past few months.

In February, it launched an eight-day ground incursion into Iraq.

The PKK, listed by the United States and Turkey as a terrorist group, took up arms against Turkey in 1984 with the aim of creating an ethnic homeland in the southeast. More than 30,000 people have been killed in the over-two-decade conflict.
