LOS ANGELES, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Los Angeles police arrested on Friday a high school student who posted shooting warnings at the Wikipedia entry.

The posting warned that a shooting would take place at Glen A. Wilson High School in Hacienda Heights of Los Angeles, prompting authorities to close the school.

The minor student reportedly confessed but officials did not disclose a possible motive.

The minor student, whose name was not released, was arrested onsuspicion of making criminal threats, a felony.

The incident began Wednesday evening when Los Angeles County sheriff's officials notified Hacienda La Puente Unified School District police that a threat against students at Wilson High had been posted on the district's Wikipedia entry, said sheriff's Lt. Jaime Baltazar.

The entry read: "This is a warning. Do not remove this from this page. On Friday, April 18, 2008, there will be a shooting at this school. Current list of victims to be shot on this day: . . ."

Late Thursday, school officials canceled classes for Friday as well as weekend activities at the school "due to the specificity of the threat," according to a school statement.
