MEXICO CITY, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Mexican leftist Ample Progressive Front (FAP) on Thursday continued its protests for eight days against Mexican President Felipe Calderon's energy reform.
FAP legislators from the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Labor Party (PT) and Convergence Party, encircled main doors of the Chamber of Deputies, and the only door left open is the one used by national and international reporters.
Dozens of Mexican senators on Thursday tried to enter the Senate building at Mexico City's Historic Center, but were prevented by thousands of protesters from many social organizations.
On April 10, opposition legislators took over both chambers of Mexico's Congress to protest Calderon's energy reform, which aimed to privatize Mexican state-own oil enterprise Pemex.
The FAP's coalition proposed a four-month debate on president's proposal on energy reform in the Congress.
