BEIJING, April 16 -- Premier Wen Jiabao has met with British Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling in Beijing.
Premier Wen says China and Britain should promote dialogue and exchanges on the basis of mutual trust and respect. He hoped both countries could use China-UK economic and financial dialogue as a platform to enhance understanding and cooperation.
He said China supports a fair and open multi-lateral trade system. He added China is willing to make joint efforts with all countries to promote the Doha round talks.
Darling said Britain values its ties with China and always seeks long-term friendship. He said Britain is willing to make joint efforts with China to enhance dialogue and cooperation. Darling said Britain will take active measure within the EU on China's exports.

China, UK conclude first economic, financial dialogue with broad consensus
BEIJING, April 15 (Xinhua) -- China and the United Kingdom (UK) convened their first-ever economic and financial dialogue here Tuesday, in which they reached consensus on facilitating bilateral investment and cementing joint efforts to solve international problems including climate change.
Wang Qishan, Chinese vice premier and special representative of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, and Alistair Darling, British Chancellor of the Exchequer and special representative of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, co-chaired the deputy-prime-minister level dialogue. Full story
