HANOI, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese construction workers unearthed a bronze drum thought to date back 2,000-3,000 years ago, according to local newspaper Saigon Liberation Wednesday.
When upgrading a road in Dong Hy district, northern Thai Nguyen, the workers found the drum with a height of 30 cm, top diameter of36 cm, bottom diameter of 45 cm and weight of 12 kg. The Thai Nguyen Museum assumed that the bronze is 2,000-3,000 years old, and belongs to a period in the Dong Son Culture.
To date, a total of four ancient bronze drums have been unearthed in Thai Nguyen.
The Dong Son Culture is an important prehistoric culture of Indochina, which is named for a village in northern Vietnam where many of its remains have been found.
