RIO DE JANEIRO, April 14 (Xinhua) -- India hopes its trade volume with Brazil will reach 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, up from the 3.1 billion dollars registered in 2007, Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil said in Sao Paulo Monday.
In a speech to entrepreneurs of the Federation of Industries of Sao Paulo, Patil highlighted the opportunities existing between the economies of the two countries, according to local media reports.
"Both Brazil and India are large and growing economies, with enormous opportunities for further rapid investment and growth. Our natural synergies and economic complementarities can be exploited for mutual benefit," she told the audience.
Brazil has know-how in the production of food and infrastructure facilities, sectors that India needs to develop, she said.
In return, she explained, her country could offer expertise in information technology, pharmaceutical products and agriculture equipment.
"I would like to say that our governments are willing to create a favorable environment for bigger bilateral trade, investments and economic integration," she said.
The Indian president, on her first official visit to a foreign country since she took office in June 2007, will be welcomed by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the capital Brasilia Wednesday.
