ISLAMABAD, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan is fully prepared for the secure and successful Olympic torch relay, said Dyed Arid Han, president of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), on Wednesday.

While meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui, Hasan said Pakistan opposes any activity to sabotage the Olympic torch relay due on April 16.

The torch relay should go on as planned and we should not show weakness to the saboteurs, said Hasan, adding that the whole country are looking forward to the torch relay.

Hasan said Pakistan is also in opposition to any attempt to politicize the Beijing Olympics.

In Islamabad, the Olympic torch relay would start from Jinnah Avenue and end at the Liaquat Gymnasium building in the sports complex.

The POA will hold a lighting ceremony on the torch relay day and 80 torch bearers consisting of local celebrities and athletes will relay the torch along the route.

The Olympic flame, which was lit on March 24 in the town of Ancient Olympia, Greece, will be transported to Islamabad from Muscat, capital of Oman.
