BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- People of various
nationalities living in Tibet have benefited from reform and development, said
Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet autonomous regional government, here on
Wednesday.
"They are real beneficiaries," he stressed, citing figures
of Tibet's development to refute the Dalai Lama's claim that the benefits of
Tibet's development have been taken away by the Han nationality and "cultural

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Qiangba Puncog, chairman of
the Tibet autonomous regional government, said here Wednesday that none of the
monks identified as fatalities by the Dalai Lama had proven to be dead after
careful investigation.
Of the list provided by the Dalai Lama, five referred to
monks who served at lamaseries in the autonomous region, Qiangba Puncog told a

relay in Tibet would be a complete success.

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Police in Tibet have detained
953 people who were suspected of participating in the March 14 violence in
Lhasa, Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet autonomous regional government said
here Wednesday.
Among all the detained, 403 were formally arrested,
Qiangba Puncog said at a press briefing of the State Council Information Office.

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese officials on
Wednesday denied a so-called "media war" over the March 14 riot in Lhasa, the
capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, saying that the majority of foreign
journalists were covering the issue fairly.
"Some foreign media have limited knowledge of the
situation, while some are explaining it in a different way and from their own
perspective," said Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the regional government, at a
