BEIJING, April 9 -- Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate
Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell are lined up to star in "Everybody's Fine," a remake
of Giuseppe Tornatore¡¯s Italian drama "Stanno Tutti Bene."
Kirk Jones, who last directed the Emma Thompson family film Nanny McPhee,
will direct Fine beginning later this month in "Connecticut."
Variety reports that De Niro will play a widower who realizes that his wife
was the only connection he had to his children. On a whim, he decides to take a
road trip to reconnect with each of his grown kids and along the way discovers
that their lives are far from perfect.
The original Italian film starred Marcello Mastroianni and Michele Morgan
and was a contender at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990.
De Niro will soon be seen alongside Al Pacino in Jon Avnet¡¯s "Righteous
Kill," while Barrymore is producing and starring in the upcoming "He's Just Not
That Into You."
