WASHINGTON, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The United States mocked on Monday at Zimbabwean ruling party's call for a vote recount before the results of the March 29 presidential election are announced.
"It's interesting that they haven't had the official election results announced, yet there is a call for a recount. I'm not sure of the logic train there," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.
Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF has requested the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to recount and audit all its electoral material relating to last week's presidential election following revelations of errors and miscalculations in the compilation of the poll result.
Zimbabwe held on March 29 elections of president, parliamentarians and local councilors. The final results of the parliamentary election have come out but the presidential results are yet to be announced.
The United States has urged Zimbabwe to announce all the election results, saying that the people in the country have voted for a change.
