TIRANA, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Albania's National Olympic Committee expressed Tuesday its opposition to the attempts to politicize and boycott the August Beijing Olympic Games, believing the Games will be a complete success.
"We strongly support the Beijing Olympic Games and oppose any attempts to link the sports event with the Tibet issue," Stavri Bello, general secretary of Albania's National Olympic Committee, told Chinese ambassador to Albania, Wang Junling.
Bello said Albania had already decided on the government officials to attend the opening ceremony of the Games and on the athletes to take part in the sports competition.
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha has already made public that he would attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.
The August Olympic Games is a sports event that not only belongs to China, but also the whole world, Bello said, adding that the successful staging of the Games would not be influenced by some negative event.
"In the run up to the Games, China has increasingly become the international focus. It is natural that there will be some unharmonious noises in the process, but they wouldn't succeed," Bello said.
