JAKARTA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The April 27 bout between unbeaten World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight champion Chris John of Indonesia and his Australian challenger Jackson Asiku has been canceled, the Indonesian side said Monday.
Chris John's mandatory defense against Ugandan-born Asiku is due in Australia along with another bout featuring WBA light heavyweight champion Danny Green and Argentina's Hugo Hernan Garay.
The entire show is now in doubt after Australian Green withdrew from his mandatory defense.
"I returned to Indonesia on Friday. I don't know about the next plan because everything is handled by the management," Chris John told the national Antara news agency.
The 28-year-old is trained by Australian coach Craig Christian.
"I will be staying (in Indonesia) until further notice from Craig Christian. I don't know when and where my next bout will be held," said Chris.
He won the WBA featherweight belt in Sept. 23, 2003 from Oscar Leon of Colombia in Bali and has since defended the belt ten times.
His last bout was in January when he defeated Roinet Caballero from Panama by referee decision in round seven. ¡¡
