WASHINGTON, March 26 (Xinhua) -- A poll released by Rasmussen Reports Wednesday shows Republican Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) beat both his Democratic opponents in one-on-one "matchups" of the November presidential elections.
McCain, who has secured the Republican presidential nomination, led Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) 50 percent to 43 percent.
He led her fellow Democrat Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) 51 percent to 41 percent.
The numbers each have a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
Rasmussen Reports also says its daily tracking poll on the race for the Democratic nomination shows Clinton and Obama dead even nationally among Democrats, 45 percent to 45 percent.
Gallup says its latest daily national tracking poll on the Democratic nomination race shows Obama just 1 point ahead of Clinton, 47 percent to 46 percent.
The polling agency also said it also finds that a "sizable proportion" of Democrats might vote for McCain if their preferred contender (Clinton or Obama) is not the party's nominee.
