    TOKYO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Japanese central fast-reaction force held a ceremony on Wednesday at its base in Utsunomiya, north of Tokyo, to mark the establishment of its core unit.

    The central fast-reaction unit, made up of about 700 officers and soldiers, is mainly assigned special combat mission such as bush fighting and anti-terrorist battle.

    It will give assistance to all parties in domestic disasters and other emergencies, and be dispatched into overseas missions prior to main force for all preparation works and evacuation of local Japanese people.

    The unit is equipped with 100 sets of bulletproof armored vehicle and weapons such as anti-tank missiles.

    Japan's central fast-reaction force, which currently consists of some 4,100 officers and soldiers, was established in March 2007.It is the top elite force of Japan's Self-Defense Forces.
