BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Golden State
Warriors forward Chris Webber, a 15-year NBA veteran plagued by sore left knee
in recent years, is expected to announce his retirement Wednesday.
Warriors spokesman Raymond Ridder said Webber will
make the announcement at a news conference.
Webber, who turned 35 March 1, has played only nine
games for Golden State in his comeback attempt with the club that selected the
former University of Michigan star with the top pick in the 1993 NBA Draft.
Last season, Webber split time in Philadelphia and
Detroit, appearing in 61 games.
Webber was the most prominent member of the Fab Five
at Michigan and played for Golden State, Washington, Sacramento, Philadelphia
and Detroit in his NBA career.
He has averaged 20.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and
4.2 assists in 831 games.
