ANKARA, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Six illegal immigrants drowned in the
Mediterranean Sea after their boat capsized off Turkish coast, an official
statement said on Sunday.
The written statement issued by Turkish Coast Guard Command said that
bodies of six illegal immigrants were found in Tekagacheadland of Didim town of
western province of Aydin.
The statement said that the teams found six bodies, one of them woman, off
shores of Tekagac headland.
The statement identified the woman as Ayse Abdurrahman, a citizen of
Somalia, adding that search and rescue efforts continued in the region.
Thousands of immigrants from Asia and Africa entered Turkey illegally on
their way to European countries in search of jobs and better
life.
