KABUL, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Explosion on Friday injured at least four people when Afghans rushed to the northern city Mazari Sharif to celebrate traditional new year, said a local official.

Abdul Rauf Taj, the city's security chief, said a small bomb hidden in a garbage bin outside the most famous and main shrine of the city suddenly exploded, wounding at least four people including shopkeepers nearby.

He added the whole incident was under investigation.

Taliban has yet to make comments so far.

Over 220 people have been killed mostly in militant-related violence this year across the war-torn country, where the anti-government militants have vowed to intensify their guerrilla-style attacks. ¡¡
