OTTAWA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- More schools are being closed Thursday over fears of snow-covered roof collapses in Canada's eastern Quebec.
The province has had dozens of building collapses that resulted from snow-covered roofs, causing the death of four.
About 41 elementary schools, 12 high schools, two adult education centers and four vocational training centers around Montreal are being shut down Thursday. The school board said engineers recommended the closures as a "precautionary measure" given concerns about heavy rooftop snow.
The schools will remain closed until further notice, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported, citing the school board.
Last week about 150 schools in Montreal had to be closed for a few days to allow workers to clear the heavy snow covering the buildings.
Quebec has experienced the most snowfalls this winter unseen in decades.
