BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- China and Peru issued a
joint press communique marking Peruvian President Alan Garcia's state visit to
China, vowing to continuously promote their bilateral partnership.
The communique said that Garcia and his Chinese
counterpart Hu Jintao pledged to continuously enrich the comprehensive bilateral
partnership to strengthen and expand strategic cooperation.
The Peruvian government reiterated its firm adherence

Nations General Assembly, said the communique.
The communique said the two countries will strengthen
cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, infrastructure, culture,
education, science and technology, health, tourism and poverty relief.
The two heads of state were pleased at the remarkable growth of bilateral trade volume, which topped 6 billion U.S. dollars last year, and were also satisfied with the progress toward a free trade agreement.
Peru reiterated that it recognized China's full
market economy status, said the communique.
China wished Peru success in hosting the APEC meeting
this year and pledged close coordination with Peru, while the Peruvian leader
wished for the success of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2010 Shanghai
World Expo and confirmed Peru's participation in the Shanghai World Expo.
The communique said that China and Peru signed a series of important agreements and memoranda of understanding during Garcia's visit, covering bilateral cooperation in the fields of judicial assistance, economy and technology, cultural exchanges, energy and mining, health, quarantines and the media.
Garcia invited Hu to pay a state visit to Peru in
November and Hu accepted the invitation with gratitude.
