Special report: Dalai's separatist activities condemned
BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Senior officials of
some countries have recently voiced their support to the Chinese government over
the recent violence in Tibet, and believed that the Beijing Olympics will be a
success.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Inamul-Haq told the
Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui on Wednesday that, as the Beijing Olympics is
approaching, some Tibet separatists and Taiwan separatists are trying to
sabotage the big event as well as China's territorial integrity. Some western
non-governmental organizations are also trying to instigate a boycott of the
Beijing Olympics. Those are all unpopular moves, he said.
Pakistan firmly supports China's effort to maintain
its territorial integrity and sovereignty, rejects any separatist movement of
"Tibet independence" or "Taiwan independence," and believes the Beijing Olympics
will succeed, the minister said.
Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation Zainab Hawa Bangura said on Tuesday that her country
sees clearly the intention of the Dalai Lama clique -- to instigate violence in
Tibet to promote separatism of the region, and to disturb the Beijing Olympics.
A spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic
People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday strongly "denounces the unsavory
elements of their moves to seek 'independence of Tibet' and scuttle the upcoming
Beijing Olympics, and supports the Chinese government in its efforts to ensure
social stability and the rule of law in Tibet and defend the fundamental
interests of the Tibetan people."
Lebanon's Interior Minister Hassan Sabaa on Wednesday
told the Chinese Ambassador Liu Zhiming that Lebanon supports China's stability,
territorial integrity and Beijing's host of the 29th Olympic Games. His country
also opposes politicizing the Olympic Games, the minister said.
President of Tunisia's Chamber of Advisers Abdallah
Kallel said on Wednesday while meeting with Chinese Ambassador Liu Yuhe that
Tibet is an inseparable part of the Chinese territory and the Tibet issue
belongs to China's internal affairs. He also pointed out that the Olympics is a
grand gathering of sports, and the Beijing Olympic Games is bound to be
successful.
Youssef Amin Wali, deputy chairman of Egypt's ruling
National Democratic Party, said to the Chinese Ambassador Wu Chunhua that, Egypt
has been paying attention to the recent violence in Tibet. Egypt supports the
measures taken by the Chinese government to restore stability and safety in that
region, and believes the Chinese government has the ability and wisdom to handle
the incident properly, Youssef said.
The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) said in a
statement Wednesday that Tibet is an integral part of the People's Republic of
China, and the party "strongly condemns the incident that put at risk the
freedom and sovereignty of the Chinese people."
The party believed the Chinese government was capable
enough to deal with such a situation.
