Peruvian police arrest two alleged FARC members

   ¡¡LIMA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Two alleged members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) were arrested early Wednesday in northeastern Peru, Peruvian police announced.

    Octavio Salazar, director of Peru's National Police, said the arrested were alleged members of the 63rd Front of FARC, Colombia's largest anti-government group.

    The two Colombian citizens, a man and a woman, were arrested bythe Peruvian police in coordination with their Colombian counterparts in an early morning raid in the city of Iquitos in Loreto state, some 1,500 km northeast of the Peruvian capital Lima,he said.

    Police identified the arrested man by his alias "Tanaka" and the woman as Leidy Divas Guerrero.

    Without revealing more details about the operation, Salazar said the two suspected rebels will be transferred to the capital amid strict security.
