of terror" remarks

officials refuted Dalai Lama's "cultural genocide" and "terror rule" remarks on
Sunday and said such arguments were a tale of a tub and "downright nonsense".
Dalai cited the "rule of terror" and "cultural genocide"
in its latest separatist remarks after the Lhasa riot, according to media

Foreigners suspended from entering
Tibet for safety concerns
LHASA, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Following Friday's turmoil in
Lhasa, the regional government of Tibet has suspended handling the application
of foreigners to travel to Tibet for safety concerns, said a local official.
"We also suggest foreign tourists now in Tibet to leave in
the coming days," said Ju Jianhua, director with the region's foreign affairs

tainted, and the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal proved nothing but a fig leaf of
the Dalai Lama when on Friday rioters, backed by the self-proclaimed peace
preacher, turned the tranquil holy city of Lhasa into a land of terror.

Armed police rescue 580 people from
Lhasa riot
LHASA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Armed police in Lhasa have
rescued more than 580 people, including three Japanese tourists, from banks,
supermarkets, schools and hospitals that were set alight by violent saboteurs,
sources with the Tibet Autonomous Region government said on Saturday.
More than 160 blazing spots, including forty major fires,
were reported after an outbreak of violent activities that wracked the capital
